MEUKOW COGNAC

Founding and History

  • Meukow Cognac has a rich history dating back to 1862 when two brothers from Silesia, Gustav and Auguste-Christophe Meukow, were sent to France by the Russian Tsar Alexander II to secure high-quality cognac for the Russian court. Their mission was a success, and after several trips, they decided to establish their own cognac house in Cognac, France, which eventually led to the creation of the Meukow brand.

  • Over the years, Meukow has maintained its dedication to craftsmanship, evolving into a global brand known for its high-quality offerings. The house prides itself on its family-owned heritage and its ability to blend tradition with modern techniques, ensuring that each bottle reflects the artistry and expertise of its producers.

Style and Offerings

  • Meukow Cognacs are characterized by their smoothness, elegance, and complexity. The house focuses on using grapes sourced from the four main crus of Cognac: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, and Fins Bois. Meukow employs a meticulous aging process, allowing the eaux-de-vie to develop rich and nuanced flavors in both French oak barrels and casks previously used for other spirits.

  • The style of Meukow Cognacs often highlights a balance of fruitiness and spiciness, with an emphasis on smooth textures and vibrant aromas. The house offers a range of expressions, catering to both casual drinkers and discerning connoisseurs who appreciate fine Cognac.
