MEUKOW COGNAC
Founding and History
Meukow Cognac has a rich history dating back to 1862 when two brothers from Silesia, Gustav and Auguste-Christophe Meukow, were sent to France by the Russian Tsar Alexander II to secure high-quality cognac for the Russian court. Their mission was a success, and after several trips, they decided to establish their own cognac house in Cognac, France, which eventually led to the creation of the Meukow brand.
Over the years, Meukow has maintained its dedication to craftsmanship, evolving into a global brand known for its high-quality offerings. The house prides itself on its family-owned heritage and its ability to blend tradition with modern techniques, ensuring that each bottle reflects the artistry and expertise of its producers.
Style and Offerings
Meukow Cognacs are characterized by their smoothness, elegance, and complexity. The house focuses on using grapes sourced from the four main crus of Cognac: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, and Fins Bois. Meukow employs a meticulous aging process, allowing the eaux-de-vie to develop rich and nuanced flavors in both French oak barrels and casks previously used for other spirits.
The style of Meukow Cognacs often highlights a balance of fruitiness and spiciness, with an emphasis on smooth textures and vibrant aromas. The house offers a range of expressions, catering to both casual drinkers and discerning connoisseurs who appreciate fine Cognac.
