DELAMAIN COGNAC

Founding and History

  • Delamain was founded in 1824 by James Delamain in Jarnac, a small town in the Cognac region. The house is one of the oldest family-owned Cognac producers and remains committed to traditional methods of production. Unlike larger houses, Delamain focuses exclusively on producing high-quality, aged Cognacs, and specializes in blending eaux-de-vie sourced exclusively from the prestigious Grande Champagne cru.

  • Over nearly two centuries, the Delamain family has passed down its craftsmanship and expertise, ensuring that the production process honors the heritage of fine Cognac making. Today, Delamain remains a boutique operation, renowned for producing some of the most elegant and refined expressions in the Cognac world.

Style and Offerings

  • Delamain Cognac is known for its traditional, artisanal approach to production. The house uses only the best eaux-de-vie from the Grande Champagne region, which is considered the premier cru for Cognac due to its chalky soils that produce Cognacs with great finesse and aging potential.

  • Delamain is unique in that it specializes in producing only XO Cognacs and older, with no VS or VSOP in their range. Their Cognacs are known for being unfiltered and naturally aged, with minimal use of additives like caramel or sugar. This allows the true character of the Cognac to shine through, resulting in spirits that are often described as elegant, delicate, and complex.
