GAUTIER COGNAC
Founding and History
Gautier Cognac is one of the oldest Cognac houses, founded in 1755 by the Gautier family in Aigre, Charente, France. With over 265 years of history, the house has been passed down through generations, maintaining its traditions and commitment to quality. The company was initially granted a royal warrant to produce Cognac by King Louis XV, cementing its place in French history.
Gautier's cellars are housed in an ancient mill on the Osme river, which provides a unique environment for aging their Cognacs. The combination of humidity from the river and the natural environment of the mill contributes to the distinct character and depth of their spirits.
Style and Offerings
Gautier is known for producing Cognacs that are smooth, rich, and complex, with a particular emphasis on balance. The house uses eaux-de-vie from different crus, including Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, and Fins Bois, to craft blends that reflect both the finesse of the top crus and the richness of other regions.
The Gautier style is often characterized by notes of tropical fruits, honey, spices, and vanilla, with a silky texture and long finish. Their aging process in humid cellars enhances the maturation of the Cognacs, adding depth and complexity to the final product.
