Vieux Carre

Created in 1938 by Walter Bergeron, the then head bartender at what is now the Carousel bar at the Monteleone Hotel, New Orleans, USA. Pronounced 'Voo-Ka-Ray' or more correctly 'Vyuh Cah-ray', it is named after the French term for New Orleans French Quarter and translates as 'old square'.

¾ oz (22.5mL) Rye
¾ oz (22.5mL) Martini Rosso
¼ oz. (7.5mL) Benedictine
2 Dashes Angostura
2 Dashes Peychaud's

 ICE SPEC – Queen Cube
GLASS – Old Fashioned Glass
METHOD – Stir all ingredients with ice and strain
GARNISH – Lemon Twist
