VALLEIN TERCINIER COGNAC
Founding and History
Vallein Tercinier is a historic Cognac house established in 1850 by Georges Vallein. Located in the Saintonge region of Charente, this family-owned house has been crafting Cognac for over 150 years, passing down its knowledge and traditions through five generations. The estate itself dates to 1791, and the family has always emphasized a strong connection to the land and traditional Cognac production methods.
Unlike many larger Cognac producers, Vallein Tercinier remains a boutique house focused on artisanal production. The family controls every stage of the process, from growing their grapes to distilling and aging their eaux-de-vie. Their Cognacs are known for their authenticity, complexity, and long aging periods, with the family maintaining a large stock of aged eaux-de-vie in their cellars, including some that date back over a century.
Style and Offerings
Vallein Tercinier is renowned for its traditional approach to Cognac production, with a focus on creating refined, complex spirits that highlight the terroir of the Fins Bois, Petite Champagne, and Grande Champagne crus. The house uses a slow, meticulous distillation process to preserve the delicate aromas and flavors of the wine, and their Cognacs are aged in old French oak barrels to allow for long, slow maturation.
Vallein Tercinier’s Cognacs are celebrated for their elegance and depth, with a distinctive balance of fruit, spice, and rancio, a hallmark of well-aged Cognac. Their expressions range from younger, vibrant Cognacs to rare, long-aged vintages. The house also places an emphasis on bottling Cognacs without chill filtration or additives like caramel, resulting in pure, unaltered flavors that reflect the natural aging process..
