BACHE GABRIELSEN
Founding and History
Bache-Gabrielsen was founded in 1905 by Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen, a Norwegian officer with a passion for Cognac. After moving to France, he purchased the house of E. Dupuy Cognac and established his own brand, combining French Cognac-making tradition with his Scandinavian heritage. Today, Bache-Gabrielsen is still a family-owned business, managed by the fourth generation of the Bache-Gabrielsen family.
Over the years, Bache-Gabrielsen has grown to become one of the largest independent Cognac producers, particularly popular in Scandinavia. Known for its innovative approach and commitment to producing quality Cognac at accessible price points, the house has expanded its offerings while maintaining its roots in traditional methods.
Style and Offerings
Bache-Gabrielsen Cognac is known for blending tradition with modernity, producing a wide range of styles from classic VS, VSOP, and XO to more experimental, innovative expressions. The house sources its eaux-de-vie primarily from the Fins Bois, Petite Champagne, and Grande Champagne crus, allowing for a diverse range of flavors.
Bache-Gabrielsen’s style is characterized by smoothness, balance, and approachability, with a focus on fruit-forward profiles. They employ a mix of young and aged eaux-de-vie in their blends, creating Cognacs that appeal to both traditionalists and those looking for a more modern, versatile spirit. Their Cognacs are known for being soft, elegant, and easy to drink, making them popular among a wide audience.
