ABK6 COGNAC
Founding and History
ABK6 Cognac was established in 2005 by Francis Abécassis, though the family has a long history of winemaking and distillation in the Cognac region. The name “ABK6” is a modern, shortened form of the family’s surname, symbolizing the house’s contemporary approach to Cognac production while still rooted in traditional values.
Located in the heart of the Cognac region, ABK6 is one of the few single-estate producers, meaning they control the entire production process from grape to bottle. Their vineyards, distillery, and cellars are all located on the family’s 370-hectare estate, which is spread across some of the best terroirs in the Fins Bois, Petite Champagne, and Grande Champagne crus. This allows ABK6 to produce unique, high-quality Cognacs that fully express the character of their terroir.
Style and Offerings
ABK6 Cognacs are known for their modern, fresh approach to the traditional Cognac style. By focusing on single-estate production, ABK6 aims to capture the essence of the terroir and produce Cognacs with a distinctive sense of place. Their eaux-de-vie are distilled on the lees to enhance complexity and aged in French oak barrels, allowing the flavors to develop and mature slowly.
ABK6 Cognacs are characterized by their balance of fruit, floral notes, and rich, woody undertones, with a particular focus on smoothness and approachability. The house’s commitment to single-estate production ensures a high level of consistency and quality, with each expression offering a refined yet modern interpretation of traditional Cognac.
